But why should you choose an Active Workplace Solution to help you reduce your carbon footprint through the recycling of your old office furniture and equipment? It's all in the value we provide…

Environmental Impact

Our team endeavours to make it easy for our clients to eliminatefurniture waste through several schemes designed to rehome and recycle anyfurniture that isn't required by the office. Redundant goods are inspected andthen either rehomed locally or sent for recycling – materials are separated toensure that nothing will be sent to landfill. We inform our clients where theirfurniture has been rehomed and if recycled, we will provide certification.

Industry Knowhow

We are widely respected in the industry for our passionate approach tosustainability, proficiency and experience. Our 20+ years of experience hasseen our services grow and change with technology, as well as the legislationintroduced to govern their safe recycling and disposal. Simply put, weendeavour to keep a top of the latest innovations in sustainable officeclearances to provide the best service to our clients.

Financial Benefit

Our approach starts with us looking to maximise the life of existing furniture before specifying new items. Through this, we have saved our clients huge amounts of money by simply keeping existing furniture through refurbishment programmes.

Social Value

As we're involved with several charitable projects ourselves, we can attest to the great social value that being a sustainable business has. We provide our clients with the option of participating in furniture rehoming programmes which allow for redundant items to be repurposed in the community; allowing them to free up their resources and provide more services in the local area.

How We Work: The Waste Not Want Not Scheme.

Our aim with sustainable office clearances is to minimise the amount of waste that goesto landfill. We are proud to say that wemanage to resell, reuse or recycle 94% of all cleared furniture andmake every effort to resell or rehome second-hand furniture through our 'Wastenot Want not' scheme. Many people will be familiar with 'The Three Rs'; Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.Whilst the hierarchy is similar, RRR goes into more detail regarding differentmethods of waste management, listing them in order of most preferable to leastpreferable.

They are:

  • Prevention. The most preferable method of office clearances is to prevent items from becoming waste in the first place. This can include things such as reducing the number of materials you use to reduce waste.
  • Reuse. Some items of waste can be reused, thus being removed from the waste stream. For example, an item of office furniture your business no longer wants that is in good condition could be refurbished and sold as second hand or rehomed in the community to prevent the item from being disposed of.
  • Recycle. The word 'recycle' means to 'turn an item of waste into a new product or substance'. In the office interiors industry, there are many of opportunities for recycling, due to the range of different materials that are used in a typical office environment.
  • Recovery. If you can not prevent, reuse, or recycle the waste, the next most preferable method is recovery. This method of disposal involves recovering the energy from the waste in the form of fuel, heat, and power.
  • Disposal. The least preferable method of waste management is disposal in landfill or incineration (without energy recovery). By using the methods we employ, this is the least likely destination for the items we recover during office clearances– contributing to a better environment.

So, if your business is considering making a change to its office in the near future, why not consider our services to help keep you sustainable.
