Dell Boomi is a subsidiary of global computer technology giant - Dell.
In
2019, Boomi sough to bring their drive for helping their customers work faster
& smarter to their workplace at Exeter's Science Park, revealing plans to
expand the existing space for a new research and development center for
excellence as part of East Devon District's expansion of the site.
A
larger state-of-the-art facility would not only facilitate the growth of their
business, but also develop the region's reputation as a world class STEM
hub.
Boomi knew that its current home in Exeter wasn't able to accommodate the future growth in their plans, but their search kept bringing them back to the science park where they already had an established presence.
The decision was made to expand into a 4,359-square-foot ground floor office, with an approved design that needed a specialist team to fit out the space. It was designated as a Cat B Fit Out, meaning that the works would need to follow a tight specification, using existing infrastructure when possible.
The brief had extensive requirements:
Active has had a strong relationship with Dell since 2010, having successfully
delivered a number of relocations, dilapidations, storage installations, and a range
of other project work in Dell's Bracknell EMEA headquarters, and the London space.
For the Exeter expansion, Active worked alongside Dell's management team and
professional project & architecture teams to deliver the fit-out on time and to
specification.
Active's dedicated team installed the M&E assets,
baffles, and acoustic features throughout the open plan areas and meeting rooms. The
team then painted the space & worked with key contractors to ensure Boomi's
expectations were met.
As a technology business, Boomi need to move quickly and Active was ready to meet these demands, completing the project within a very short timeframe.
The new workplace at Exeter Science Park matches Boomi's ambition to help the business to grow comfortably and reinforce its status as a world leader in IT integration.
The newly fitted out space is nurturing a fresh, quick and more collaborative way of
working amongst Boomi employees. The open plan design has brought teams closer
together, with breakout zones giving colleagues room to collaborate, and new kitchen
spaces allowing them to eat together and socialise - registering a marked
improvement on the previous space.
Boomi's team was impressed with the speed, consistency, and hands-on approach of Active's senior leadership team.
“They're not the biggest company, nor the smallest, but they do listen and they do deliver. We have an honest and open relationship; the Active team aren't afraid to challenge certain things if they think it's in our best interest"
