Petrofac is a leading international services provider to the energy industry. It designs, builds and operates and maintains energy facilities.
They have more than 8,000 employees based in offices all across the world including the Middle East, Europe, USA, India, China and the UK.

The Requirement
The Requirement With renewable energy sources set to grow rapidly over the next two decades, Petrofac needed an office to base their New Energy Sources team in the UK
They wanted bright, modern and efficient accommodation that would allow them the space they need to innovate in the exciting area of new energies. The space had to appeal to their staff and reflect their corporate personality as well as give the high-levels of functionality necessary in any modern workplace.
Petrofac already had the real estate in Woking and a set of architect plans but they needed a contractor to make the design a reality.

Finish & Furnish
A radical refurbishment of over 200m2 of office space took place. Stripping out the existing partitioning and reconfiguring to a clever design that created the cross-functional work areas that balance open-plan office accommodation with breakout rooms and spaces for collaboration or privacy. Active installed the VAM heat exchangers and Air Conditioning ducting as well as the electric and A/V fixings. There were new walls, ceilings and flooring throughout including across a mezzanine level.
Benefits and results
There were enclosed rooms, meeting rooms and a tea point all delivered to Petrofac's quality specifications.
High quality flooring was used throughout and feature lighting added interest to the traditional office ceilings. Active supplied the furniture used throughout the refurbishment including shelving, sofas and stand-up desks to encourage a mixture of formal and informal collaboration.
Feature walls with an environmental feel and occasional pops of bright colours all helped to bring the space to life.
The finished accommodation matches the tone and ethos of the Petrofac brand and the 20 employees working in the UK New Energies team.

Despite FM being based at the opposite end of the UK to Woking,
Phil, the project lead, made himself available for all meetings and
consultations, whenever requested. It's sometimes the small things like
transparent communications, that make a project run easily. We have had to add
on some more small works after the team moved in, but Active have been happy to
help us with this to help us get what we need.
